This is a old recipe that I grew up with. The myth/story of this, was it was made to send overseas to soldiers. This cake needs no eggs and is a good one for staying moist. I came to love the flavour of the spice and molasses. There’s not a lot of instructions.
Boil: 2 cups water, 2 cups raisins; 1 cup light ( fancy ) molasses; 1 cup sugar; 2/3 cup shortening. Let cool. Sift together 3 cups flour; 1 tsp. soda; 3 tsp. cinnamon. Add to cooled mixture. Put in a greased tube pan & bake 1 hr. 350 degs.
